I'm rereading Jane Eyre for my a level lit class at the moment and need to cover this criticism with them. It's been years since I read it but it I'd clever - I especially like the idea that Victorian patriarchy moulded upper and middle class women into fragile poorly creatures. And of course old Bertha as Jane's alter ego.
