What about a James Bond? Classic that you can't go far wrong with (unless he has them). Good luck!

Well puffin have rereleased the first three James Bond novels and dp will be getting that as part of his gift and R4 had a serialisation of Gore Vidals autobiography last week which I only caught a bit of but my dad is getting that.

was thinking about this last night, ds has some of the original puffin bond novels from the 60's and theyre pretty good.

If you can give it to him face to face and explain why you've got him a kids' book, he might like Charlie Higson's Young james Bond novels. They're Bond's crimesolving adventuers at Eton in the 30s (?). Maybe best as a companion to an early Ian Fleming. The first one is called Silverfin.
