Straw poll - I have gone through my shelf and Kindle and these are my options. I have just finished Eva Luna by Isabel Allende which I loved but don't really want something similar as I have another of her books to come back to once I have digested this one.

So,

A Golden Age, by Tahmina Anam
The Hungry Tide, by Amitav Ghosh
The Rose of Sebastopol, Katharine McMahon
Home of the Gentry, Ivan Turgenev
Dark continent, Mark Mazower
The Architect's Apprentice, Elif Shafak
Romola, George Eliot
The Fat of Fed Beasts, Guy Ware
