Book about a mother with a secret life, daughter realizes through photograph

Hi,

Please help, this is bothering me so much. I'm trying to find a novel I read within the last 2 years which I believe to be fairly contemporary.

It's about a young girl/young woman and I think she's fairly self-absorbed, she often takes photos and one day takes a photo of her mother sat out on the porch, when her mother isn't 'switched on' as her mother and realizes that her mother had a life before being a parent.

Sounds like part of The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. The girl gets a camera for her birthday and I'm sure there's a photo she takes of her mother early one morning like that.
