Can anyone ID this detective series?

Whilst watching New Tricks last night I was reminded of a book I read a few years ago, which I'm pretty sure was one of a series, about a PI who worshipped Philip Marlowe and had all the Raymond Chandler books in his office which he used as a guide to be a detective.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? I've looked online but can't find the title, and it's really beginning to bug me. Thanks.

It's not Jackson Brodie is it? Didn't he have a bit of a Philip Marlowe thing going on?

Robert Galbraith (aka J K Rowling) The Cucckoo's Calling & The Silkworm.

Think it was Cormoran Strike (the detective of the series) who had a Raymond Chandler thing.

Thanks both. Will have to reread the Cuckoo's Calling (which I have at home) and get out one of the Jackson Brodie books from the library. Will be good to be able to put this one to bed, as it were!
