Try these. They follow along the Dan Brown treasure hunt/archaeological/adventure theme David Gibbins. Whole series of them, 8 I think. First book is 'Atlantis'

Andy McDermott - Another (10 book) series but each novel is a stand alone adventure. An easy read.

If you are massively after action, a book that reads like a movie with the explosions, cliffhangers and great fun with a big cast of characters try Matthew Reilly, 7 ancient wonders is the first in a trilogy.

Everything else I read is either non-fiction or Horror.

Robert Goddard writes on similar themes, much better than Dan Brown

Michael Cordy writes in a very similar way. I did enjoy his books. They are the Messiah Code, the Venus Code and a few more. I'm sure they were named something else when they were first published, but renamed with the word 'code' in their title to appeal to the Dan Brown readers.

Worth a look.

Here are a few not already mentioned :)
Scott Mariani
Paul Christopher
Steve Berry

I am pilgrim - a million times better but the same fast pace, interlinked stories etc.

The Last Secret of the Temple - Paul Sussman.

Really, really good. The actual historical artefact thrillery bit is a bit shit tho. It's like he said "I want to write a really intelligent and insightful boom about the M.E" and his publisher said "OK Paul, but tack on a bit about some archaeologists trying to track down some fictional object from Jerusalem so we can market it at the Dan Brown crowd."

Do read it tho.

Simon Toyne's Sancti Trilogy- I'm just about to start book 2 and am hooked.
The first book is similar to the DaVinci Code in many ways but I preferred it.
