Name of this book?

I read a book on holiday a couple of years ago, it was left at the little book store in our apartment complex in Greece.

Never read anything like it but it was medical based, I guess sci fi? It was about a virus which a couple of doctors were investigating, like HIV and they seemed to find a cure, but there was some sort of underhand thing going on, like a cover up, maybe even the cure was fake? This is totally vague but I would quite like to find out what it was! Anyone recognise it?

Bet it was a Robin Cook novel. It rings a bell though, will have a think.

Sounds like it may be Louise Welsh's 'A Lovely Way To Burn'

I think it had a white cover with blue writing. Was 2011 though so a while ago! Will check those both out, if not I will Probably give them a go anyway.
