I received this copy free from MNHQ, this is my opinion on it.

I enjoyed this, it was a fast paced, entertaining read, however I am a fan of fantasy novels and I do quite enjoy reading a bit of teenage fiction, if these things don't rock your boat I'm not sure you would like this.
For those who do enjoy this kind of book there is a bit of everything, vampires, demons, werewolves and of course romance.

I couldn't put it down and read it in one night, I now want to read the rest of the series. Even better I have passed it on to my teenage daughter.

A great read for teens and adults, I would recommend it.

I was chosen by MNHQ to receive a copy for free. This review is in my own words and reflects my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book - I love fantasy and teenage fiction despite having been out of my teens for a long time

The characters were fun and the story was energetic and fast-paced.

The only problem is, is that I am now going to have to get the rest of the series (and probably all the rest of Cassandra Clare's books!)

Thank you for sending me this book Smile

I really enjoyed this book, even though I am not a teenager. It is a young adult title, however, I do feel it will have crossover appeal. I liked the characters, they were very well written and the plot was exciting. I would definitely want to read the rest of the books in this series.

I have been meaning to read this series for a long time now so it seemed like fate when the giveaway popped up in my email.

I've always been a fan of mythical type books, I love Twilight, Hunger Games etc and The Mortal Instruments looks set to be another addictive series.

Drama, mystery and adventure, a world brilliantly described and interesting characters that you want to know more about!!

Cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the series now.

Firstly, the description on the back of the book does not do it justice - however, it must be really difficult to encapsulate a jam packed book in a few sentences. I really enjoyed this book and read it over 2 days.

The action started straight away - drawing you in to the dark side, hungry for information about the characters. It was an easy read, everything flowed. It was full of dark descriptions and interesting characters and like everyone who has read it so far - will have to go away and read the whole series.

Thank you x

Thank you MNHQ for my copy of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments - City of Bones.
I often read teenage/young adult fiction because they are usually easy reading and fast paced, this book was no different.
The book draws you in immediately and makes it an exciting fantasy read, with interesting characters and fast paced action with lots of twists and turns that keep you hooked.
Just as a warning though, don't start to read it unless you've got the time to get all the way through it, you won't want to put it down!

this is not the sort of book i would usually read ,nonetheless it was a refreshing change.

Thank you for sending me a copy of City of Bones to review.

Firstly I have to say I don't normally read fantasy novels aimed at a younger audience but this book has made me change my mind!!

From the first page the book drew me into the story, the characters were excellent and it was very hard to put down and get on with other stuff - always the sign of a good book. Especially when the story doesn't drag as this didn't.

I will definitely read more by this author and more books for youngsters!!!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 31/08/2015 19:35

I'm not really a fantasy fan (except for Discworld, which is kind of its own genre) and I don't usually read young adult books, but I absolutely loved this and plan to read the rest of the trilogy. It was really well-written with characters that seemed realistic, and the story was exciting. I would say it is suitable for anyone aged about 14 and older - it's probably a bit too mature for anyone younger than that.

It's obvious that this book is for teenagers, but I really enjoyed it. It isn't something I would normally choose to read and so that made a nice change. It was quite dark in places, thrilling in others and easy to get into. If you enjoy fantasy and vampires you'll love this!

A very good read. Would highly recommend it and look forward to read the rest of the triology.

I received this book as part of a giveaway and this is my opinion on it.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was faced paced and easy to read and the characters were easy to connect with. It is aimed more at teenagers than adults, but anyone who likes their fantasy, vampire, demon style books would enjoy it. It was nice to read something a bit different. I think I will be reading the rest of the series and indeed other Cassandra Clare books. I will be passing this on to my teenage daughter as I think she will enjoy it too

SHORTMAN · 23/09/2015 19:20

I was picked by MNHQ to review this book and being a 58 year old grand mother was not sure that a book marketed as teenage fiction would be to my taste. I was pleasantly surprised. Clary, a teenager living in New York discovers that she can see things that other people can't. She discovers that her family background is not what it seems and when her mother disappears she is drawn into the world of the Shadowhunters, a group fighting to free the world of demons. New York is transformed into a place populated with vampires, werewolves and other fanciful creatures and Clary and her friend Simon are unwittingly drawn into a battle between good and evil. The story moved along at a good pace with unexpected twists and turns and flashes of humour. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others both teenagers and older fans of fantasy fiction

Not my usual read, which is one of the fabulous things about being chosen to review a MNHQ book - it pushes you out of your comfort zone

Good paced book, with interesting characters, twists and plots. Some adult level story lines, presented well for younger adults to 'digest'
