From Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks - creators of What The Ladybird Heard - comes Princess Mirror-Belle And The Dragon Pox, the exciting adventures of a princess with a difference.
Ellen gets a big shock when her double appears out of the bathroom mirror - a princess, and a very mischievous one at that. Join the magically mischievous Mirror-Belle as she jumps out of Ellen's mirror and sweeps her into a variety of hilarious escapades, from battling with Dragon Pox to helping out with the local pantomime.

I have a little girl who would love to review this!

lisa2104 · 24/07/2015 11:12

What a massive and lovely surprise to get this this morning. My daughter was over the moon and she is poorly today too. She is a bit too excited to read this yet but we will read it and review later!

hlc123 · 24/07/2015 12:56

Thank you very much for the book. We're big Julia Donaldson fans in our house. I read this to my children as soon as we opened the package. We all enjoyed it but we prefer the rhyming books such as What the Ladybird Heard, Monkey Puzzle and of course The Gruffalo. Nevertheless this was an enjoyable story which I would recommend for children age 3-6.

ilovepoppygreen · 24/07/2015 17:43

What a beautiful book! We received this today after work and my daughter was thrilled! A good read, a little longer than some of her other books which I liked as it sparked a lot of great conversation. The images were magically beautiful as always, my 5 year old daughter could not stop touching the pages as it looks very tactile. We're very happy to be adding this to our Julia Donaldson collection. Thank you :) x

This just arrived today. I always love Julia's books, I cannot wait to give this to my wee niece this week-very girly, she will LOVE it (if I can bear to part with it!) Many thanks mumsnet!

InAndOfMyself · 27/07/2015 18:24

We received our copy over the weekend and my eldest son wanted to read it right away.

I have to say we prefer the rhyming books, e.g What The Ladybird Heard, but they book did have a lot of fun silliness.

My youngest son wasn't interested in it all but the eldest said, 'It's a good book, Mummy, not the best but good.'

He asked to read it a second time so he did enjoy the silliness.

I'm keen not to categorise books as for girls or boys so I than you for providing us a copy.

susanterblanche · 28/07/2015 08:12

Thank you so much for our copy, my daughter's face lit up when I opened it and she loved the illustrations :-) We love 'What the lady bird heard' and really enjoyed this one as well. Thanks!

Only just received this - will report back soon!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 31/07/2015 16:42

My 2-and-three-quarter-year-old DD wanted to read this as soon as I opened the package, so full marks for the cover! She loved the book and wanted to re-read it straightaway. The sparkly, busy pictures are a major plus, and the story works well. Like previous posters, I prefer the rhyming books (What The Ladybird Heard was DD's first proper storybook and she still loves it), but overall I think this book is a hit Smile

Anononooo · 02/08/2015 23:07

Thanks MaCMillan. DS who is 7 loved this book. I assumed he would not, but he really did. He liked the idea of a mirror reflection coming to loppife and he loved the mischief they got up to in the bathroom. Glitter was cute, but he was not so impressed by that. he did like the drawings though.

Icyblue · 03/08/2015 15:26

My dd enjoyed the book. She liked the glittery pictures and said the book is very girly in pink. She is 10 and found this book a bit too young for her.

Anononooo · 03/08/2015 15:34

DD 10 quite liked it - but got into a whole panick about it being girly, which she does not like. But we had a god discussion about whether glitter is girly. I say NO!

Anyhow, the story is good - it had more in it - wordwise and ideas wise - that I would have assumed by the cover.

Pinkcatgirl · 03/08/2015 15:48

My almost 3 year old loved this, thanks for the copy. I think it will be more popular as she gets a bit older. She is a big Lydia Monks fan and we have gone back to some old favourites as a result (The Singing Mermaid in particular).

insanityscatching · 03/08/2015 16:10

Thank you for the book I shared it with my Goddaughter and gave it her to take home.We both loved the book, we love Julia Donalnson and again it's a book that will become one of her favourites I'm sure. Lovely story and great illustrations one to be enjoyed over and over again. My friend says she has read it at least twice every day since she took it home Grin

insanityscatching · 03/08/2015 16:12

Should add I suppose Goddaughter is just 5.

skippink · 03/08/2015 21:21

Thank you for the lovely book. I read it to my 5 year old daughter and she loved it and listened all the way through. The story line was great and the glitter on every page went down very well.

kateandme · 03/08/2015 21:54

Fabulous book.hehe we all enjoyed this one.quirky, bright, full of colour and quirks.the little. Ones adored it.and at bedtime were still talking of it.lovely illustrations and so bright.great.

GrouchingTiggerHiddenSomething · 04/08/2015 08:55

Thank you so much for our copy. DD (6) read it very quickly and enjoyed it, I am now guiding her towards the Princess Mirrorbelle chapter books (we had two already and got another one from the library!) It's a lovely book with very charming illustrations (DD loved the glitter!) and a great introduction to the characters. Thanks again.

honeybeeplusone · 04/08/2015 14:08

Thanks for the book! My 5 year old liked the story - especially the ending. She liked the fact that the imagined story might have been real. I would have preferred it to be rhymed but that's just me.

BCCecTed · 05/08/2015 10:36

Thank you for this book - my daughter (2 and 3/4) was thrilled to receive it and it is now a firm favourite. The vibrant colours and sparkling pages offer her lots to look at and she enjoys listening to the story. As there is length to the story I can see that it will continue to engage her as she gets older too. A great book!

Bluetwirl · 06/08/2015 14:07

Yippee!
I've been really excited to read this story and we were so lucky and won a copy!
I love Julia Donaldson and her books never disappoint. It's nice to have a bit more content and story too, it's a bit longer and wordier than some of the others.
Lovely colours and characters, great storyline and made my 4 year old laugh a lot. Such nice vibrant illustrations and a fun topic.
This will be well loved and we will also buy it for other family members for Christmas :)

melanieclare2002 · 08/08/2015 10:31

We received a copy of this book from Mumsnet and we absolutely love it! It's a perfect read for my four year old daughter who loved the sparkles on every page and really enjoyed all the details in the story, such as the missing slipper and the messy bathroom. It's a fun, interesting, exciting story that held her attention (and mine!) and which we have read over and over again. I think this will be a firm favourite for a long time. Thank you Mumsnet!

PurpleOwl86 · 08/08/2015 19:47

I was so happy to receive this, and of course the children (boy, 5 and girl, 3) too! I was asked to read it twice in a row, then again a while after, and at least once every day since. They both loved the glitter, as they love that you can feel it with your fingers. I think the story is very good (though I am a bigger fan of the rhyming ones, the children don't seem to mind), and it was good to use it to talk about real things and imaginary things. Thank you so much for it!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 09/08/2015 15:49

I like Julia Donaldson, but this book really didn't do it for me. I miss her poetry with this story and the plot isn't strong enough to make up for it. It would probably be a good book if your child has chicken pox, but I'm left wondering if the 'glitter on every page' was meant to be a distraction.

ScarlettDarling · 10/08/2015 13:52

My book didn't arrive!
When we got home from 2 weeks holiday on Thursday, we had 6 cards from a delivery company saying they'd tried to deliver a parcel which was too large to post. When I contacted the company, they informed me that the parcel had been returned to sender. I'm assuming it must have been this book...can't understand why it wasn't left with a neighbour?
Anyway, many apologies...obviously I can't post a review as we haven't been able to read the book!
