Mr and Mrs Bold are just like you and me: they live in a nice house, they have nice jobs and they love to have a bit of a giggle. There's just one slight difference: they're hyenas.
So far, the Bolds have managed to keep things under wraps, even when their children Bobby and Betty were born. But the nosy man next door smells a rat (or a hyena) - is their secret about to be revealed?

Packed with wildly hilarious jokes, eccentric characters and brilliant illustrations, The Bolds is perfect for children aged 7+. Click here to find out more and apply for a free copy.

Don't forget if you're lucky enough to win a free copy we do ask that you tell us what you think about it on the thread below or in our book reviews section.

Got a question for Julian? He'll be joining us for a webchat between 1-2pm on Wed 29 July, post your q's here.

I was picked by MNHQ to review this book, which I received for free. This review is in my own words and reflects my true opinion.
My 7 yr old son loved this book especially because it's not like anything he has read before. It was clever how the pages changed colour to indicate night and day. He also loved the jokes and the surprise ending about Mr Mcnumpty. He would definitely any other books that Julian Clary writes. Thanks Mumsnet for selecting us!

I was picked by MNHQ to receive this book for free and this is my 8 year old daughter's opinion. She really liked it and could read it easily on her own, she said it was "funny and exciting". No spoilers, but she said she liked the bit with the zoo keeper the best!

Thanks for the book Mumsnet! Our copy arrived just in time for our summer holidays. My daughter packed The Bolds to take away with her and read it twice while away. She loved the characters and the plot twist, although did say some of the jokes where a bit on the 'cheesey' side. My older Son (13) did give it ago aswell, although reported back that it was a bit childish but I think he secretly enjoyed it too :-)

Thank you MNHQ for the copy you sent us. My daughter (9) has read and reviewed this over the holidays.

She said that she absolutely loved this book and hopes that Julian writes more. She said it is funny, exciting and loved the characters. I actually heard her laughing out loud several times. She was sorry when it came to "lights out" time as she had to stop reading.

Great cover, very eye catching illustrations as well. Even had DD's Granny intrigued attempting to steal it

Oh, and tonight, whilst she was persuading DS that he should read it she said also that she LOVED all the jokes!!! Started reading them all out! And the grumpy neighbour who turned out not to be human after all......

Julian - it's a triumph, we want more! (please, ever so nicely).
