The one about the Bologna sausage in the Bullerby Children is hugely underrated, I think

(I say hugely underrated; I don't think anyone except me and Filly have ever heard of it)

Miaou · 13/11/2006 19:51

"Slow Loris" by Alexis deacon - great illustrations - Slow Loris is so slow it takes him an hour to scratch his bottom and everyone thinks he is really boring. But at night he parties and then everyone thinks hes cool. We love it, its definitely one Ill hoard.

re Miss Lollipop - we had "Do Your ears hang Low" (can you swing them to and fro etc) had to "lose" that one as couldnt risk DP substituting tits or balls!

DumbledoresGirl · 13/11/2006 20:31

Anything by Roddy Doyle is funny.

As a child, (older child) I found The Phantom Tollbooth amusing but I can't remember if it was laugh out loud funny.

WhizzBangCaligula · 13/11/2006 20:32

All the Just William books. Just blissful

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2006 20:35

charlie and lola also very amusing i think.

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 13/11/2006 20:35

I find the Emil stories funny, and the Mrs Pepperpot ones.

BTW has anyone heard of a book called Puddles In The Lane? It was about some London children evacuated during the war.

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2006 20:35

and eloise, of course.

I like those Gasketts books. Oh, and The Smelly Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales.

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 13/11/2006 20:38

it is very funny

i have wasted over two hours tonite trying to get a copy og the bullerby children on video and i musy admit to the boogba sausage episode being a motiarion

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2006 20:53

I have only got the book, and thought it was a new discovery of mine for ds until I actually read them and PMSL with delight at rediscovering the bologna sausage story. I must have borrowed it from the library as a child because I certainly never owned it.

The other stories are good but that one has a sublime Jerome K Jerome quality about it

Isabel's noisy tummy..David Mckee also Woof by Allan Ahlberg makes us chortle but mostly cos kids can recite first few pages verbatim
Miss Pandemonium is not bad too.

Mr Men books by me weep hysterically. As Victoria Wood said" you can walk past a keybaord, accidentally bump it with your bottom and fond - oops you have written a Mr Men story."
No apolgies to Mr Men fans. you need help.
