Somehow this had passed me by til last week.
I found it dreadfully sad, but the passages where she is missing Mark and wailing in despair were well written, and added another dimension to the usual style of the Diaries.
There were a few "set pieces for a film" though - e.g. in bushes at concert with Mr Walker.

I read it last year and really, really enjoyed it. I found it totally in keeping with the other booksSmile

I enjoyed it too.
Much better than I expected it to be.

I downloaded this a while ago but have been put off due to all of the bad reviews I've read of it. Worth giving it a go then!

I really enjoyed it- I think it worked as an of an era piece and having read the first ones nearly 20 years ago.
Funny observational stuff about scarves and school runs and London.

It was, much, much better than I thought it would be. Superb literary curveball with her being a widow - so that the essential Bridgetness of dating can continue. I thought that widowhood added a bit of an emotional depth to Tge orevuous books.

I agree with Springtime. I liked the first book, not so much the second and really enjoyed the third one.

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2015 11:52

Yeh, the second was a bit tenuous in places.

Really enjoyed this book and I agree with the comments above about it being better than the second.

I did really enjoy it,and I found the parts where she's missing Mark very poignant-brought a lump to m throat!
