The VD book appeared today in the post! It looks lovely, I'm looking forward to getting into it.

Bundle sent you a book about sexually transmitted diseases ?

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2006 10:42

She did.

I think she may be worried about me, thanks to my Sex Doctor posts? ;-)

I am always exceedingly impressed with your open and helpful manner whether in sex or knitting doctor modes NQC

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2006 11:05

Oh, well, I like to be helpful.

I'm mostly boggled that other people don't know the Sex Doctor stuff, tbh. Isn't sex one of the most interesting subjects around? Hasn't everyone read up loads on it? What am I missing here?

(I got quizzed, in person at a meet as to why I had my Sex Doctor knowledge. Do I need to get a sticker saying "no, I never worked in the Sex Industry at all"?)

I think people know quite a bit of it but the largely British make-up of Mn means we can't post about it unselfconsciously. You know us Brits prefer to snigger about sex or pretend it doesn't exist.
So people who post about it matter-of-factly and knowledgeably are obviously goers, nudge nudge, wink wink.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2006 11:12

Well, I do draw a big distinction between posting "I've heard that blah blah blah" and "Last night, we blah blah blah". I'm happy to post the former, but never ever post the latter. I don't think I even ever post "I once blah blah blah", much as I am sometimes tempted.

Ack, DH is appearing with a gang of colleagues to see the house for lunch. How much am I not looking forward to that ...

OP posts:

For goodness sake NQC, you don't think people read or notice your careful semantic distinctions! This is Mn 2006 we are talking about here! They just see NQC and blah blah blah. Together in one post and jump to the obvious conclusion.

Marina · 03/11/2006 11:15

Make sure you show them bundle's norty book!

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2006 11:18

Goodness, I've had a v busy life then! I'm sure I've posted about boy-on-boy action, which would be quite a trick for me to achieve, without some significant physical rearrangement!

(Do people really assume I've done anything I post about? Good god.)

OP posts:
Marina · 03/11/2006 11:22

Well not everyone does but given the number of misapprehensions etc that go on, I suspect some do!

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2006 11:25

I'm going to run off and do some fisting and whatever else ridiculous I've discussed on here ... maybe I should start a conversation about the literal meaning of the verb "squick"?

Probably not.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 08/11/2006 07:00

bump?

OP posts:
bundle · 09/11/2006 11:01

sorry I missed this.

can I clarify, it's a history of syphilis, not a norty book

you are most welcome, nqc, happy reading will look out for other microbial books just for you, xxx

NotQuiteCockney · 09/11/2006 11:04

I already have all the naughty books I need . Microbes books much more welcome. (I do have a good history of AIDS/HIV, too, in the intersection of naughtiness and microbes, well, viruses).

Good article on cholera in the latest New Yorker, by the way, London, water pumps, miasma, etc.
