Audible books, are there any reasonably/cheap priced ones?

I have just signed up for audible, got my first book and finished it already. Only another month to wait for next credit! I have read some past threads, which gave great advice, so have found out I can use the library but I need my dh to do the technical bit for me. In the meantime, are there any reasonably priced Audible books recommendations? Thank you.

If I were you I would switch to "pay a whole year ahead" option. Your books will work out
£69.99 a year ->> £5.83 per credit
OR
£109.99 ->> £4.58 per credit

I started as you - 1 book per month and in first month bought 2 more books paying over 20 pounds for them ( I was very impatient Grin )

Every so often there are offers on and you then pay 2 credits for 3 books....

O rlike now 2 for 1

I've looked at audible and others simply they do still seem very expensive so not yet taken the plunge yet.

If you pay 110 up front they work out 5 pounds each - I think this is very good value for money!

Have you signed up to receive emails about their daily deals? Each day they sell a different book for around 2 or 3 pounds for a 24 hour period.

Thank you, great advice as I didn't know any of that, and don't receive their emails either.
After I posted, I read another thread which recommended a kindle book on sale for 19p which I bought, then got the whispersync for another 3 pounds. I listened to it today in the park but didn't follow it very well (as in realised I wasn't listening), i don't think the narration is that good, do you find it makes a difference to how Much you take in?

One of my favourites so far has been Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Brilliant narration. Also Restoration and Merivel both by Rose Tremain. Different narrators but both excellent. Loved them.

There is a load on BOGOF at the moment ( I just spent my two credits that I had stored up and got four books, so that's me stocked up for a while)

Love Audible.

crimsonh · 12/04/2015 14:01

fatowl · 12/04/2015 14:12

Oh Dear Sylvia by Dawn French

Theas18 · 12/04/2015 14:21

I am subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, and just realised that some of their Whispersync books are free. I have just listened to Pride and Predujice, which had great narration and I loved it . This is despite me always hating period dramas, never been able to read it or watch any of it on the tele. I never had myself down as a Jane Austen fan! Now for Mansfield Park and Emma (also free).

This is very good option to have.
Could you please check for me if in your option is Mrs Dalloway available with free narration?

I fould it in this list: Books with Narration in Kindle Unlimited

321zerobaby · 30/04/2015 17:04

Which page on the list did you find it? I looked through the first half dozen but couldn't find it, and when I put it in the search, didn't come up on unlimited, sorry.
