Can some one recommend books for both of us so we can share in the kindle we are on holiday for two weeks on long flights.
I read All quiet on the western front for the first time and she is currently reading this so had an idea that we can share books.
She has always been interested in reading.
I was never a big reader of English books as a teenager( English is not my first language but I am bilingual ) but finding more time now that my youngest is 6.

Philip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy is excellent.

Also The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

Both of the above are YA. If you want to try some adult fiction how about Daphne du Maurier perhaps? Frenchman's Creek is good.

DD and I both read the Hunger Games trilogy and Divergent trilogy last summer.

GatoradeMeBitch · 27/03/2015 22:21

Jane Austen?

crapfatbanana · 27/03/2015 22:29

Excellent suggestions above.

I'll add Rebecca (also by Du Maurier), Wonder by RJ Palacio and The Help.

Great suggestions above.

John Green books - Fault in our Stars, Paper Towns etc. Incredibly popular with DD's age group but I also read FIOS and enjoyed it.

Kathy Reich's Virals series.
Some Agatha Christie Poirot stories

Loads of great YA fiction around that definitely withstands being read by an adult. Both DD and I enjoyed Fangirl - I think she identified with the lead character, and I found it very funny as a parent Grin

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn - Betty Smith

Good to see The Book Thief get a mention....One of my all time fave reads and my eldest DD, 16yo, has read it and loved it too.

As first mt DS refused to touch it than couldn't put it down.

I loved Wonder and TFIOS.

Takver, I'm reading Fangirl at the moment - really enjoying it! YA is so, so good at the moment.

To kill a mockingbird is good.
