Maybe a daft question, but...

I often look for new books on Amazon or look up ones I've heard of to see what they are about. But more and more often, particularly with new releases, all you get is useless one liners from reviews in book description. They rarely tell you anything to get your juices flowing plot wise. Where do others look for a synopsis? Tia.

Obviously I could go to bookshops and look on the back but at home, online.

Try goodreads.com, the Guardian website book section or the weekend supplements of The Telegraph.

If you scroll down to "Description" there's a few reviews and the précis that is on the back of the books. Sometimes a bit more if you look at the Kindle edition.
