self published kindle books

Is there a quick way of finding out if a kindle book is self-published?
I'm sure there must be some good ones but would prefer not to read any more for a while. Have had too many that have rave reviews and turn out to be a waste of time and money. IMHO of course .

Check if there is a print version. If not, I would bet that it is self-published.

Usually the details on amazon should tell you who the publisher is. I also like to avoid self published as more often than not they are rubbish.

Found this out on another thread. Always avoid stuff not through an agent / publisher - also avoid anything saying 'no 3 in the D.I. Milkard series' etc

My tip is to search in 'books' only not kindle books and just get the kindle version of a book you like. There is a lot of self published drivel that's for sure.
