Anyone read Michelle Houllebeq's 'Platform'

He has a new novel, Submission, out this week in France, difficult timing, bearing in mind what's just happened in Paris. His novel, 'Platform', discussed sex tourism and prefigured both the Bali bombings and 9/11. It was a fascinating novel but very controversial, just wondered if anyone had read it, what you thought if it and what you think of him as an author...?

I have read it. I lived in the city used as the setting for a while. He writes beautifully I think. I had real issues with the sex workers enjoying sex with the protaganist. Ha ha. I am pretty sure based on himself. The islamist terrorists. Well, he definitely has an agenda and is happy to be controversial.

I have read all his books and will pick up the new one.

Apparently his new novel, speculating on what France would be like if under Muslim rule is already a best seller in France...

Well recent events won't do his sales any harm I am sure. I will give it a go though I fear it may irritate the hell out of me. He just writes so well. Grin
