Secret Santa present

I need to buy a book for my secret santa present and thought a book would be a good idea. The person is an avid reader, in her 60's and likes art too. Any ideas? No chick lit. Thanks in advance.

Gillespie and I by Jane Harris sprung to my mind when I read your description of your secret Santa recipient.
It's a page turner, great story - well written, there's an artist in it and it's by an author that could easily be overlooked by even an avid reader as I don't think she's as well known as she deserves to be.

Gillespie and I is an excellent novel. Read it earlier this year and oved it.

Esther Freud has a new novel out - Mr Mac and Me, about Charles Rennie Macintosh. Not read it though.
