This is very trivial but really bugging me! Keep remembering a scene in a book where narrator rememberd being s child and desperate to go to breakfast at a diner with her mum as a birthday treat as one of her schoolfriends always goes there with her mum. However the mum just drops her off there with 10 dollars to eat alone and goes off to a tennis
match or similar. Girl is too young/ upset to eat there alone. Cannot remember what book this is from but scene really stayed with me. Anyone know??
