DS14 loved Looking for Alaska & The Fault In Our Stars.

What other books of a similar style might he enjoy?

Try Life: An Exploded Diagram by Mal Peet. Really terrific YA book covering intelligent themes and beautifully written.

Ujjayi · 17/11/2014 16:45

Thank you. Will check it out later.

We Were Liars by E Lockhart is pretty good - read it last Summer, not realising at first that it was YA. Really enjoyed it.

Also, Wonder by R J Palacio, and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness are really good YA novels.

Lovely. Thanks for the recommendations :)

I agree with the Mal Peet recommendation.

Also, sideways along from John Green novels, there's "Will Grayson Will Grayson".

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell- very much like the faukt in our stars

SmatteringOfPatois · 03/03/2015 19:12

The lovely Mal Peet died yesterday from cancer, thoroughly genuine, giving man, thoroughly recommend any of his books. RIP Mal.

madamehooch · 04/03/2015 11:05

Eleanor and Park looks like it may soon be turned into a film.

I would recommend:-

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares

Before I Die

Thirteen Reasons Why

Very sad about Mal Peet. RIP, Mal.

Feellikescrooge · 06/03/2015 19:39

Hate by Alan Gibbons is a brilliant novel.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 06/03/2015 19:50

Oh, did he, Smattering? How sad. I loved The Murdstone Trilogy, although I haven't read any of his YA stuff.

I second Hate, by Alan Gibbons.

MimsyBorogroves · 06/03/2015 21:07

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Steven Chbosky. (Way superior to the film)
