I'm looking for recommendations for non-fiction books for Uncles/Dads etc.
I'd like a nice hardback, perhaps with a military theme that would make a good Christmas pressie.
Hope you can help Wink!

DH loves all Redmond O'Hanlon's books and when pushed suggests "In Trouble Again: A Journey Between the Orinoco and the Amazon" as the best.

I've a couple in mind for DH along those lines - Christmas in the Trenches and The Christmas Truce - both WWI books but with the christmas factor.

Thought they'd make a good present - both on Amazon

Thanks both. I was looking for something a bit more modern, something about Afghanistan perhaps.

Any ideas gratefully received!

My DH has read Cables from Kabul which he thought was alright....

Afghan is still a bit fresh for books about it....

Quite a lot of stuff about Iraq and Balkan conflicts though.

Another good one was Double Cross by Ben Macintyre - spies etc.

Separate friends highly recommended this:

Looks good so I've bought a copy. I'll post what I think when it arrives.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
