was anyone else disappointed by The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan?

I was really looking forward to this, as I've enjoyed her other books, but found it so dull, I couldn't believe it was by the same author. Anyone else read it?

It was snore bore. Gave up less than half way through. So I share your disappointment!

I thought it was poorly written and didn't hold together at all. I don't think it would have gotten published if it had been her first novel

I didn't like it either. Have you tried Saving Fish from Dying? I found this really gripping, it's a breezy read.
