My sister and I are trying to remember the title of a book...

• set in Manchester
• follows several generations
• grandmother called Lettice
• aunt (Dorothy? ) who wears a zebra print suit
• girl called Gabriel (?) who wears black with raspberry shoes and scarf, a fashion student
• discovers her family had an association with suffragettes

Is it ringing any bells for anyone?

Google suggests 'Unforgettable' by Linda Cajio. I'm not sure it's what you're after though.

It definitely has a grandmother named Lettice. Aunt Dorothy is mentioned once, but there is no mention of zebra print and it's not in Manchester (although there is mention of a Manchester Terrier)

The Manchester thing could be a red herring. My sister said it was set in Manchester but I don't remember

Oops and no I've checked out Kate Harrison and it's not one of hers.

I think we would have read it 20-25 years ago If that helps?
