How could he do that to Barak. I thought he was dead at first in the epilogue. I might just have given a little cheer when he was shown to be still alive.

Just read it over half term. I know, I think I should have realised he was setting up Nicholas to take over from Barak in (hopefully) future novels. I heard he is going to write more set in Elizabeth's reign which would obv be amazing.

I was ready to throw the book across the room! Thank goodness he didn't - but oh poor Jack. :(

PS - I might love JB a bit. Grin

I was shocked too!

I must tell you what happened when I finished Lamentations. I was going away for a few days so thought I should find something by an author whose work I enjoy.

I remembered that Phil Rickman had a new book out so ordered night after night.
I really enjoyed the character Sansom had presented for Catherine Parr.
How amazed I was to see her emerge as one of the themes in Phil's novel too.

It was meant to be Grin
