Im looking for some good ghost stories but not horrible gory stuff. Maybe a book with a compilation of short stories, historical ones would be good. I am a bit of a wuss though so nothing too scary.
Any ideas Grin

I've just read The Small Hand by Susan Hill. Not scary at all, but very good. The Woman in Black - v scary, also by Susan Hill.

You could try M R James. Not read yet but are excellent. Some have been on tv.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Gothic and creepy.

The Insanity of Jones and Other Tales by Algernon Blackwood. The language is of its time but he's a master of the form.

Try Kate Mosse's 'The Mistletoe Bride' short story collection. It is on offer this week in WH Smith too.

DH didn't enjoy The Mistletoe Bride and returned it to Amazon for a refund :( Said it was disappointingly bad. But he has recommended Florence & Giles by John Harding and there's a sequel too called iirc The Girl Who Couldn't Read.

Florence and Giles is currently free on Kindle - here
