I liked this WAY more than the subject matter would suggest I would. In some ways it reminded me of the Elizabeht Gilbert new book that I read last month

Anyone else ? I found the thing about the novelty of sugar REALLy interesting

It was so interesting about all the cultural mores - sugar and so forth and gingerbread men! - that came to light in this book. Fascinating way to glean a bit of history in a great story
