loved the book (slightly shocked at how long ago it was when i read it)...but now it's on telly next week by the same people who do 'spooks' (which i dislike)...what do you think? can tv do jean rhys credit?

Oooh - I hope they do it justice.

Who is acting in it?

Will watch with interest!

Saw a bit on telly the other day -- looks a bit rauncy !!

just out of interest when was the book written ?

written 1966 i think (quick google search). it should be gorgeous and glossy in a overripe sort of way - and spooks is glossy so maybe.... not sure who's in it will have to do a search - timothy spalls son is rochester (Observer article) which will be a good start if he's as good an actor as his father (but what a lot to live up to!)
