Has anyone else got it? what do you think, is it worth the money? I've just signed up for the free trial as a book I'm buying is on it. I'll let you know what I think but would be interested in other opinions. Smile

It's an interesting idea. When they've got a few more books I want to read involved I might give the free trial a go.

I had a look at it yesterday. From what I can tell, you don't get to keep the books or audiobooks if you cancel your membership. So it isn't the same as having a membership of Audible, for example, where you buy everything and keep it even if you cancel your membership. Not sure yet - will wait to see how it works.

The last book I bought from Audible isn't available on this new scheme, so will be interesting to see how much of their stock is included eventually.

I had a look at this earlier and to be honest I was a bit disappointed after my initial wild excitement upon receiving the email. The choices of books, for all they say there are 650,000, seem to mainly be made of their self published novels - I've been through my (massive) wishlist and not one of the books on there is on Unlimited. Maybe once they get some publishers on board with it I'll sign up, but at the moment...meh.

iamstegosaurus · 26/09/2014 09:40

Yes I've gone for it as the book I was going to buy is part of it but don't think I'll carry on when I have to pay if the book selection isn't good. Thought the best way to test that tho was to give it a go for a month. I already spend too much on booksBlush

Apparently the 650,000 includes free classics. Cheeky.

NadiaWadia · 26/09/2014 18:15

Have had a look, but the list seems quite limited. (And of course you have to return the books - I often like to re-read). Not many of my wishlist are on there, although they do have a few well-known books like The Luminaries, Harry Potter. I agree it is a bit cheeky to pad out the list with the out-of-copyright classics like Pride and Prejudice etc. Surely most people know you can get them for free (and to keep) anyway, no subscriptions required.

I might give the free month a go sometime, but £7.99 a month for what amounts to a virtual library ticket to a rather limited library doesn't seem like good value to me.

Lots of the books i had planned to borrow via my amazon prime (you get one free book a month) are now part of this and are no longer available on prime! Angry

Theas18 · 27/09/2014 22:31

Mcfarts that's a very interesting observation about prime. It makes the prime service less enticing by the minute. They should include amazon unlimited in the stupidly expensive prime service.
( I grabbed prime just before they put the price up. Fast delivery is nice and I use it but I haven't watched much video . I have borrowed books though )

I had a look and I'm not that enticed - I buy more Kindle books than I can get to anyway, but I keep access to them. A lot of the books that are available there are also regularly available in Daily deals or through sales.

TooBigNow · 29/09/2014 18:17

I also had a look and wasn't very impressed with what was available. Goes to show how much carp is on there.

Wouldn't surprise me if they do add it into Prime at some point and increase the price of Prime just like they did with the films.

The list is too limited, and I discovered (by accident) that Whispersync doesn't work on my iPhone 4 because I don't have IoS 8 so part of the appeal for me was to do Kindle/Audio syncing and I can't. So not interested.

Amazon weren't really very sure why my iPhone wasn't compatible, so it was all a bit shambolic!
