I read a while ago a book that someone lent to me, now I want to buy my own copy, but can't remember the book's title.

It is about a girl living in Berlin during world war 2, her mum leaves her to join up, as does her father, and she lives with grandparents.

I'm fairly sure it was a true story. Does it ring a bell with anyone?

No bells ringing, sorry. But try looking through this list of 55 world war 2 books, or have a look at one of the other goodreads lists relating to ww2

Thank you Smile

It's not Don't Say a Word, is it? It was originally a German book by Barbara Gehrts but was translated by Elizabeth Crawford.

I'm really not sure if that's it. I specifically remember her mum leaving to join the forces and her father too, and her living with her grandparents. Her mum returned, but I don't think they got on afterwards.
