Are these not in print anymore? I have just looked them up on Amazon and can only find a few titles (I am sure there was a long series of them when I was a child) from private sellers.

ah dd loves moonin books (unknown in France but a friend told us about them)
Friends actually went to Moomin world last summer

DumbledoresGirl · 26/09/2006 21:26

Moomin World? The mind boggles.

F&Z: I told ds2 this evening to expect a parcel from a Mumsnetter (my two oldest boys know all about my little addiction!) as I felt he needed cheering up. The regular little sod in his class (well, chief sod, there are plenty of underlings) had upset him at school today so I felt he deserved to know he had a treat to look forward to.

Ah good well it should be there tomorrow, or on Thursday at the latest

Clarinet60 · 27/09/2006 13:12

I've got about five (didn't know there were 13) and love them.
Assume you have all titles now, if not let me know.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/09/2006 15:56

Me? have all the titles? No! F&Z is sending me Moominsummer Madness but that is all I have. A look round charity shops yielded nothing.

Glassofwine, Droile or anyone else with Moomin books they don't want:

I am now the proud owner of Moominsummer Madness (thanks F&Z!) but am still interested in buying any other Moomin books. Anyone prepared to sell?

TooTicky · 28/09/2006 11:31

moominworld

I had moomin books as a child but don't remember the names Fillyjonk and Tooticky - were they in all the books?

Clarinet60 · 28/09/2006 13:18

Moominland Midwinter
Moominvalley in November
Finn Family Moomintroll
The Exploits of Moominpappa

I forget the rest

Moominvalley in November is a must for Fillyjonk fans, and Toft is so sweet. I think that book may be why I wanted to become a writer.

Clarinet60 · 28/09/2006 13:19

pretendfriend, fillyjonk and tooticky were in some, not all.

Clarinet60 · 28/09/2006 13:20

I couldn't bear to sell, dumble, but I would lend, free.

DumbledoresGirl · 28/09/2006 13:21

No worries. I am looking to buy. Will continue search.

Thank you, Droile - not advanced memory loss then!

I had Finn Family Moomintroll and at least one other, and I do remember Hemulen, the Hattifatteners, the Groke, and Thingummy and Bob - now I'm reminded that is. There was an antlion in one of the books, anyone know which one that was?

sancerre · 28/09/2006 13:30

Filly, last time I namechanged I really wanted to become snorkmaiden...but it's taken!
Have never seen a snorkmaiden on here, what a waste of a great nickname!
So I'm a Moomin name in spirit, if not in practice.

Hope ds is enjoying his new Moomin book DG - have you tried your local library? If they don't have the Moomin series already you could suggest it as a poss acquisition??

thesnorkmaiden · 28/09/2006 13:45

Just testing...not quite what I wanted but it might do for a bit...

TooTicky · 28/09/2006 16:27

Yes, DG, it is. I didn't just want to post it just like that thouggh. I think I havea spare Finn Family Moomintroll - I could pop it in with the trainers.
PretendFriend, the ant lion is in Finn Family Moomintroll.

I think I've discovered a new phobia - I never liked the moomins when I was little, they scared me. I've just looked at the Moomin World link and now I actually feel sick! No so much the moomins who are quite cute but some of the others look really sinister.

Hallgerda · 29/09/2006 07:53

I've just taken a look at the Moominworld site. Fillyjonk, I'm shocked by this:

'Fillyjonk does not believe in the Moomins' ideas of free upbringing, and she does not hide her feelings whenever she bumps into one of the family. She keeps her own children under a strict discipline - having fun, for example, is absolutely forbidden. What Fillyjonk likes is rules and tidiness.'

That's not at all how you appear on here!

TooTicky · 29/09/2006 15:32

I must say, Filly, I always vaguely picture you as tall and thin, gently whiskered and slightly worried looking, even though you don't sound as though you look like this...

TooTicky · 29/09/2006 15:34

Of course I'm short and live in stripy jumpers...

TooTicky · 30/09/2006 23:00
TooTicky · 01/10/2006 16:02

Alas, Fillyjonks are a sensitive breed...

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 01/10/2006 16:16

Nah, see Fillyjonk secretly loves chaos. Getting everything really tidy is fun becuase of the possibility for chaos to ensue. We need the orderly nature of Fillyjonks. And actually, I am very strict with my kids really, in my own way...I insist on meals together and not much telly...I am a complete fascist about family time. I think kids need a routine but it should be their self-devised routine. I am a Fillyjonk at heart, just via the homeschooling extended bf quinoa wearing route

hey tick, not scared off...exercising. At the gym . This is what franny's veg thread has done to me.
