Are these not in print anymore? I have just looked them up on Amazon and can only find a few titles (I am sure there was a long series of them when I was a child) from private sellers.

Of the Moomin books I didn't keep from childhood (or rather the ones that survived my mother's attempts to give away everything I adored!) I managed to get a couple of years ago in Waterstone's. And I saw one in Ottakars a few months ago. Or was it Borders, anyway, they are still in the shops.

I love them, we saw the cartoon on Belgian tv while on holiday and dts asked why we don't get that here. So that is my next thing to buy I think!

We've got some the dc's don't like them at all. A Finnish friend brought them over - will look for them and if they're not the same as F&Z's you're welcome to have them.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/09/2006 20:42

Thanks! My email is [email protected]

Yep sure DG

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 25/09/2006 21:24

this is most strange

my mother has bought all the paperbacks from somewhere. she has them stored for ds + dd. I know she bought them within the last 3 years.

I am a fairly big fan, as you may have gathered, and it certainly looked like she had the complete set.

(I love love love the picture books best though. the illustrations are just fab.)

will ask my mother for clarification.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/09/2006 21:29

Oh FillyJonk, there is no mystery here. I discovered the Moomin books are still in print (and purchasable on Amazon despite initial appearances). It is just that I am horribly short of money and trying to buy them as cheaply as possible.

bit late to this but there's more to moomin shopping than just books... skandium sell nice pic books for younger children as well as other moomin stuff, not much of it on website but mugs, plates and bowls here...shops better than online!

Is paypal a problem DG? I find it much lesshassleistic than writing achequeand hoping there'sstill money in the bank by the time they cash it...

DumbledoresGirl · 26/09/2006 09:30

Well, I did once try to set up a paypal account and dh nearly had a fit. I do feel nervous giving out bank details on the net.

BTW, still no email from you. i am getting a friend to email me to see if it is my hotmail account that is at fault.

DG I have posted to ds today, didn't put a covering letter as was not sure of etiquette of young boys receiving unsolicited post from strange internet women

will you please tell him I admire his taste and hope he enjoys the book
