'the magpies' question (spoilers)

I finished reading this last night, but there's a bit I didnt understand.

Was the bad smell that Jamie smelt outside the flat and then in the Newton's explained? I couldn't see an explaination, but I did skim read the last part because I was a bit scared!

My copy had a q&a with author in the back - I think he said that the smell was a mystery, could have been that they had buried a body somewhere in the house/ garden, or could have been the smell of evil.

I really rate his books, I'm ploughing through them back to back atm, very entertaining. I did a thread about The Magpies and ME posted and said hello which I thought was nice of him. Killing Cupid is a great book, very cleverly written imo. So many books I just find disappointing these days but his books are very easy to read with a good story lineSmile
