It's a bit of a long shot, I know. The title is 'The Book Group' - I think it's translated from Dutch into English. Author's first name may be Marilijn. One main character is Ruth Ackermann.

Is it The Book Club by Marjolijn Februari ?

I do believe it is. I had no real expectation that I'd find it, esp being a tad vague on the details. Thanks so much, MereMortal.
