should i read GOT books? Ive been watching the series.....

Not sure how but GOT hysteria passed me by and DH and I have only just caught up with the tv series. I didn't even know it was based on books!

If id have known id have read the books instead but I'm now obviously almost 4 series in on tv but am tempted to still read the books. Should i? Is it worth it?

You should definitely read the books if you enjoy reading- they're great and it hasn't actually been one of the series that has made me hate the changes the TV show makes. There are a few differences as is expected, but I still really like both!

Yes. The books are great and really helped me understand the series better.

You should read the books. Seeing things from the different characters' points of views and their thought processes and so on makes the series a lot richer. There's also a lot of flashback sequences and history and so on in the books which obviously can't fit in the TV show. The first two seasons were pretty close adaptations, but there are a lot more changes from series 3 onwards, and I do think the books give you a different perspective of things.

I know a lot of people who have read the books since watching the show, and they have all enjoyed the books. Try not to be put off by their size, once you get into them they are fairly easy to read- I have a friend with moderate dyslexia who enjoyed reading them all.

Obviously, if you find you don't enjoy them, you can go back to watching the show but they are definately worth a try!

Thanks all. I do enjoy reading very much and in general enjoy books over tv/film adaptations. I think ill definitely give them a go!
