Have a read of Dervla Murphy's 'Journeys In Cuba' where she travelled by bike and on foot around the island, firstly with her daughter and granddaughters and then by herself. Aged seventy seven!

I also enjoyed 'In Cuba, I Was a German Shepherd' by Anna Menendez- Latin American magical realism in short stories.
