I have not been feeling great recently and would really like a funny book to make me giggle. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The Undomestic Goddess. It's total fluff but made me cry with laughter.

Any book by David Sedaris should cheer you up. Try Me Talk Pretty One Day or Let's Talk Diabetes With Owls.

If Alan Partridge makes you laugh, his biography is hilarious.

Thank you all, I'll check them out Grin

I was just about to recommend David Sedaris. It's rare that a book makes me shake with laughter but his do.

Gervaise Phinn's books, but not "All the Lonely People"!
All his others are hilarious autobiography, laugh out loud funny, but ATLP is a proper tear jerker Confused
Gerald Durrell's "Corfu" trilogy are really funny too, "My Family and Other Animals" "Birds, Beasts and Relatives" and "Garden of the Gods".

FriedSprout · 23/05/2014 00:43

Tom Sharpe - Wilt
Anything by Terry Pratchett
Gerald Durrell - My family and other animals

Hope you feel better soon Thanks

The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde, followed by the rest of the series. Just don't start in the middle

I remember laughing a lot at Danny Wallace's books, Join Me and Yes Man.

And Bill Bryson's Down Under and Notes from a Small Island.

Tom Holt has written some funny books, I liked Overtime, Flying Dutch and Who's Afraid of Beowulf.

And yes to My Family and Other Animals and to Terry Pratchett.

I'm reading Luck? Jim at the moment, only a couple of chapters in but have have laughed out loud several times already.

James Herriot's vet books, are my all time comfort read, they have me crying with with laughter, but some of the stories are a sad too.

Jeeves & Wooster.

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (begins with One For The Money) - funny and you have two of the hottest men in fiction there as well Grin Should cheer you right up.

Lightshines · 16/06/2014 00:50

I agree with 'Notes from a Small Island'

'Driving over Lemons' (first of a trilogy)
'Dear Lupin'
'Oh dear Silvia'
'One pair of hands'

imaginative · 16/06/2014 14:29

I didn't know there was one. Will definitely check it out!

AnonymousBird · 18/06/2014 19:56

Driving over Lemons is a corker I agree.

Michael McIntyre's autobiography is a hoot (but you need to like him in the first place I suspect!)

TheWorldAccordingToJC · 22/06/2014 08:05

a certain chemistry by mil Millington

hilarious

nyldn · 22/06/2014 22:22

It's silly and vulgar, but The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love is very funny. Like others, anything Sedaris. Also, very funny but also has sad parts, Green Grass Grace, by Shawn McBride

BaconAndAvocado · 22/06/2014 22:49

The Rosie Project.

About a guy with Asperger's who is looking for love.

Very, very funny and life-affirming too Smile
