Am getting ready for childbirth and will have to be in hospital for a few days. I am sure that in the run up and during this there will be lulls in which i plan to use my kindle.
I need something that is pretty brainless and easy to read but entertaining. Not mad on "chick lit" or romance, more of a crime/stephen king kind of reader.
Can anyone recommend anything?

I really liked the JK one, The Cuckoo Calling by Robert Galbraith. Easy to read.

I always turn to Agatha Christie when I want something easy and entertaining. Nothing too demanding there. I'm not sure you will be in the mood for too much reading in hospital though -unless you mean before the birth?

I've just read a couple by Linwood Barclay - they won't win any prizes but they're entertaining and easy reading x

Read as much as you can up to giving birth because, believe me, you won't have time after Grin . I took books and magazines in with me and barely had time to pick anything up and the noise on a full maternity ward is not conducive to peaceful reading. There will be more time at home during feeds, if you're not too exhausted and longing to crawl back into bed.

Having said that, I second The Cuckoo's Calling - good story.

You'll get more reading time as things get easier - just don't think you'll be reading an awful lot in the first few months.

I just read Gone Girl which was very easy and gripping. Can send it you if you want.

Alan Bissett's 'Death of a Ladies' Man'. Very easy to read.
