I wasn't keen on it. I think my expectations were too high but it just felt quite flat and uneventful.

I think the publishers, editors and fellow authors did a wonderful job in pushing the book and honouring the author after she died pre-publication but, unfortunately, I didn't think the book stood up to that hype.

I agree Cheboludo. If she was still alive the book wouldn't have been so hyped. I found none of the characters likeable and found it hard to raise any empathy.

Yes, Isla, it was difficult to really care what happened to any of them.
I've read novels with unlikeable characters that have been brilliant books (eg The Dinner, Notes on a Scandal, We Need to talk about Kevin) but in those books there was a real desire to find our exactly what happened. Thinking about it, the 3 I mentioned all have unreliable narrators of sorts, maybe that's what the Silent Wife was missing (for me)
