I'm on a long journey tomorrow and can't afford to pay out any money for new reading material.

My fave genre is dystopian fiction but I like a bit of everything so any recommendations really welcome Smile

Project Gutenberg has loads of the classics, all free to download (as they are out of copyright) - Dickens, Austen, Dumas, Mark Twain, Henry James etc

here is a link to their top 100 books and top 100 authors

LEMmingaround · 09/04/2014 18:03

marking place - classics are free

theincrediblealfonso · 09/04/2014 18:10

Don't tempt me with one that aren't free Shock The ads for the film have made me wanna read Divergent already!

I think I've read the classics I'm ever gonna read. I download stuff like The Iliad with good intentions and never get round to reading them Hmm

Have you read H G Wells? Novels are free, classics, but very readable.

CMOTDibbler · 09/04/2014 18:30

Not free, but 35p - Narrow Margins about this family who decide to live on a narrowboat after their business goes under. Really well written

Jinglebells99 · 09/04/2014 18:31

Have you seen the books which are free with a code from a galaxy chocolate bar wrapper?! The reviews are pretty good but you obviously would have to buy the chocolate first!

Cheboludo · 09/04/2014 19:16

Are you a member of your local library? Many allow you to download ebooks. This way the author will get paid, even if it is just a tiny amount.

Theas18 · 09/04/2014 19:19

Narrow margins is funny!

Sleeping dolls is 59p and a brilliant if slightly gruesome serial " killer" thing

Sallystyle · 09/04/2014 19:28

Bless us father.

It's about abuse in the catholic church but it was very well written and not totally depression considering the subject matter.

Sallystyle · 09/04/2014 19:28

depressing*

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/04/2014 19:30

Ooh off to find narrow margins

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/04/2014 19:32

59p now

bishbashboosh · 09/04/2014 19:34
