Just finished reading this for the first time as an adult. Really enjoyed it but I thought the ending seemed really rushed and a bit weak. Anyone else find this?

Ah, I must get round to reading this. I am a huge Fay Weldon fan but I was put off this because its science fiction isn't it? Would you recommend it anyway?

It is sort of science fiction but that is kind of a sub text to the main bit of the plot, the relationship between Joanna and Carl. First read it when I was fifteen and I loved it then and I still love it now, despite the weak ending.

I remember when this was televised many, many years ago. Not sure if I ever actually read the book though but remember enjoying the series.
