Anastasia by Lois Lowry. She's older than that but is a great character.

Don't remember off the top of my head but DD1 (yr2) is a great reader and we have books coming out of our ears - well off the book shelves anyway - I'll have a look tonight and post tomorrow!

Roald Dahl's "The BFG" - just checked! - here . Remembered because my two asked about glasses after seeing the cartoon version.

There is a book called time for a story by walker books it has about 30 nice stories in it one story is about baby duck and her new eye glasses and is a really sweet story it also comes with a tape sometimes.
