Pisces · 02/08/2006 20:51

Coolmama, I belong to a forum that has only just started a book club. We come from all walks of life. Do you think this is a book that lots of different people would enjoy?

Coolmama · 02/08/2006 21:50

I would say that it's a great book to use in a forum as there is so much to discuss - on a personal level, I found it incredibly moving and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a thought-provoking read.

bagpussmice · 03/08/2006 20:11

i too loved this book, one of the best I have ever read

MrsMuddle · 03/08/2006 21:10

My favourite, too, and also up for discussion at our book group this month.

Just finished this for my book club - fantastic, thought-provoking book. The best book I've read this year.

fatfox · 12/08/2006 10:19

Kite Runner fans

I just want to say that this was the best book I've read in years (and I read a LOT)- it had everyhing: family, politics, sex, friendship, a great all round thoroughly satisfying book. Anyone know if he's written anything else?

I'm not Scared by Niccoli Ammonatti is also good.

melbob · 16/08/2006 21:54

I thought this was a fantastic book for all the reasons fatfox says but I found parts of it unbearable

bigfatbump · 17/08/2006 12:22

I loved this too, it was last monts book for my book group. Really moving. I believe he's writing another, amazingly, that was his first book.

scotchick · 17/08/2006 19:47

I came on here to start a thread on Kite Runner and here it is!!! We read it last month in our bookgroup, and I just wanted to say to anyone who has never read it - you must. One of my fave books of all time. Everyone should read it!

geekgrrl · 04/01/2007 11:17

just reviving this thread - got the kite runner for christmas and oh! What a wonderful book. So moving, informative, gripping...

anyone else?

McDreamy · 04/01/2007 11:18

I really loved it and chose it as my book for book club

geekgrrl · 04/01/2007 11:22

can't wait for his next book - hope it's as good.
I love books that impart so much about an unknown place and time period, and the characters are very multi-dimensional.

KTeePee · 04/01/2007 11:34

I loved this too - always like books where you learn a little bit about another country/culture too but the story was sort of universal at the same time. It was pretty harrowing in parts. One thing I found fascinating is that I have also read a travel book written in the 1960s partly set in Afghanistan and it seems the modern world has still not impacted on a great part of the country (apart from the wars, etc...)
