Help me remember this title?

The book is set in India. Weathy land owner buys a young indian girl and keeps her as his secret companion. She believes she is his wife. She has two daughters by him. Later he meets a woman who he wants to marry so has to get rid of the companion and children. the girls are sent to boarding school. The woman is paid off and sent away.

Any ideas anyone?

Bit of google - is it The Secret Children by Alison McQueen?

If it is - I haven't read it & am muddling it with something else.

It reminds me of the beginning of 'The Harmony Silk Factory' by Tash Aw (Booker longlist 2005)
