Last year's Christmas it was Jamie's, 15 min meals. This year it was Paul Hollywood's, Bread.

I'm looking for inspiration in the sales, what are your favourite cook books?

Anything by Nigel Slater. The Abel and Cole cookbook is good too, got it in a sale last year or so and it's great.

Nigella's Feast, Kitchen and Christmas (I use it all year round).

Nigel Slater's are good too my favorite is Kitchen Diaries.

Am vegetarian & have found Sam Stern's 'eat vegetarian' most inspiring! It's the first book which has been regularly used from breakfast to pudding trials. Simple, healthy & quick preparations.

I love hairy bikers - the two new healthy ones. I also have a student cook book that has some easy recipes.

Another vote for Kitchen Diaries. Also use Nigella Express a lot during the week too.

The LEON books!! I bought the 1st one (think it's just called Ingredients and Recipes) in a charity shop and then quickly bought all the rest of them. Naturally Fast Food is brilliant. I buy them for all my friends as presents too. I read them as bedtime books sometimes. Ok, I'm a Geek.

My go to Cookbook of the moment is Rick Steins India made some great dishes :)

If you are a geek: anything by Laurie Colwin - makes good bedtime reading.

Simon Hopkinson's the Good Cook is the one I couldn't be without, and the Hairy Bikers' Baking book is rather wonderful too.

I love love love Faye Ripley's Family Food - all the recipes can be made with easily available ingredients and all work!

I have her second book but don't use it as much, the layout of the recipes is a bit odd (days of the week rather than types of food) quizzical face

Fuchsia Dunlop's Chinese books are fabulous if you want to try making authentic food. You can get 'Every Grain of Rice' from The Book People for £8.99. Well worth it.
DP also rates Thomasina Miers' Mexican books for really tasty, fairly simple food.

1000 classic chinese recipes is one of my favourite cookbooks, its my go to book of tea ideas. I have an american baking book called 1500 best bars, cookies, muffins, cakes and more that I really love to. Both were bargains but they never let me down.
I prefer cookbooks without a lot of pictures. My DM thinks pictures are the best bit.

Three Sister Indian Cookbook is AMAZING for authentic tasting Indian food at home.

Nigella bites is my favourite, i have made most things in it and generally do at least two or three things a month out of it. In fact tonight's tea was her breakfast kedgery

Nigella and Nigel are the most popular here, but the one a just LOVE is Jerusalem by Ottolenghi. Everything is just a bit different, but not madly so, and super-tasty.

My favourite cookbook is about ideas not recipes. It's Modern Cookery by Eliza Acton, published 1845. The principles in the book work for every dish in the whole world. I smile every time I get it down from the shelf.
