Looking for the Jean Plaidy of Greek mythology

Just that really. I'm after a series of books which treat mythology in the same way good old Jean does the royals.

Mary Renault. I think the first one I read (at perhaps 18?) was The Persian Boy. Then maybe the King Must Die. I very much wanted to be a bull-leaper.

Have recently read the Song of Achilles & it did seem like a poor imitation. Since I got my Kindle most of my books went to the Amnesty shop but not hers.

Have recently read the Penelopiad.

Thanks spermy. Have ordered 'The King Must Die' and also the first of the Canongate Myth series. Will let you know how I get on with them.
