charlotte's web for 5y old?

DP has just bought & read charlotte's web. he loved it and cried at the end (bless him). he'd like to read it to DD who is 5. good idea?

OK for some 5yos, but definitely not all/most.
DS1 really appreciated it at about that age.
DS2 wouldn't cope with it now - he's 7, and hopeless and listening and concentrating on other people reading; and is still very sensitive and emotional.

Agree it depends on the 5yo. I loved reading it to ds when he was about 5/6 I think but he was a bit of a hard one when it came to death to spiders and stuff!

It would be too much for my 5 year old dd - in a couple of years maybe, but not now.

our local theatre is doing Charlotte's Web as a Christmas play

they have decided it's suitable for 5 and up

I have seen children's theatre actually with dd (5) which I thought was difficult and too harrowing for her but she was actually fine with it and far more mature emotionally than I gave her credit for

I've found through Harry Potter etc that when it's being read to her, dd is actually up for far more mature things than I thought
