Marian Keyes?
Patricia Scanlan?
Freya North?

I was being facetious with Madeleine Wickham but I really find Maggie O'Farrell absolutely miles away from Sophie Kinsella in terms of writing style.

OP, look at the suggestions that come up on amazon when you look at Sophie Kinsella's books. Thats generally helpful as you can read reviews at the same time.

Grin Coconutty. Second Emily Barr but be warned every single book of hers seems to involve substance abuse/addiction. Except "Plan B" I think.

GW297 · 13/12/2013 20:44

Jane Costello and Mhari MacFarlane

I like Milly Johnson's books.

RedCountryRoads · 14/12/2013 22:04

Lisa Jewell, Carole Matthews

AandAmom · 14/12/2013 22:14

Paige Toon....easy reading, recommend reading in order as although stand alone books she picks up a character from the previous book to be lead in next one

oddslippers · 14/12/2013 22:16

The I heart .... series by lindsey Kelk is similar in style

AandAmom · 14/12/2013 22:49

Alice Peterson also very good, written three books all page turnets

IndigoTea · 14/12/2013 22:56

Jenny Colgan. 'Amanda's Wedding' in particular is great!

I've just read a Harriet Evans book that was gripping - and I'm usually quite fussy when it comes to chick-lit. I will be investigating more of her books.
