Every now and then I get readers drought, usually when i have read several good books on the trot. I have one now and its been going on for a couple of weeks and is driving me crazy. I normally read a couple of books a week and now cannot get into anything. Help!!!

I get that, at one point I didn't read a book for over a year. I just couldn't find anything that captured my imagination. Sometimes I swap to non fiction or try something that is more like a series of anecdotes.

Could I recomend 'Hoo Hahs and Passing Frenzies' by Francis Wheen.

I'm reading Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan. 40% in and I'm gripped. If you haven't read it, I would recommend it.

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2013 09:26

What kind of books do you read?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 15:00

Need to know what sort of things you usually like, but in the meantime I offer:
Jane Austen
Wilkie Collins
Bill Bryson
Stephen King
One of these for the topic of your choice

whatwoulddexterdo · 16/11/2013 15:33

I read nearly anything but i would not describe choices as particularly higbrow.
The last book I really enjoyed was called the best of our spies.
I fidnt like gone girl or that harold fry.
Don't like Stephen king, too descriptive, but thanks for suggestions.

Have you read American Psycho? I assume by your name that you're not immune to gore? Also, Fight Club maybe?

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2013 18:00

If you find Stephen King too description, don't go near Ian McEwan.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 18:01
Grin
CoteDAzur · 16/11/2013 18:03

"Too descriptive", rather. I bet Remus agrees Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2013 18:30

Gods, yes. Not too descriptive though - just too bloody tedious. :)

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 17/11/2013 11:33

When I get this I re read a book or a good classic.
