I'm just over halfway through Dominion and loving it. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but am enjoying it so much I almost don't want to read it iyswim as then I will have finished it.

I felt the same when I read 'the girl with the dragon tattoo'

I used to race home after drop off to read it, then was gutted when it finished.

The next two books were not as good IMO.

Is Dominion CJ Sansom? I have just finished Dark Fire in his Shardlake series which was really enjoyable too.

Spidermama · 06/10/2013 18:58

Tracey Thorn's Bedsit Disco Queen.

RainierWolfcastle · 06/10/2013 18:59

Marriage material - just finished it

Kasterborous · 06/10/2013 19:00

Yes Dominion is C J Sansom. I've read Dissolution by him and am going to read the rest of the Shardlake ones too.

Recently finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett - really enjoyed it.

I Capture the Castle. I can't believe it's taken me this long to read it. I should have read it as a teenager.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
A friend loaned me the book, and I loved it. I recommended it to my book group as our next read, and everyone loved it (unheard of for us)

Sallystyle · 07/10/2013 12:42

Eleanor and Park.. beautiful.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/10/2013 17:10

I really like the Shardlake books. Dominion began well but fizzled off, imho.

I enjoyed King's Doctor Sleep, most recently.

Life After Life by Kate Atkinson is my favourite this year.

gazzalw · 11/10/2013 15:17

Perfect - it was gentle, very sad if not tragic and very evocative of the 1970s....for me a 'perfect' combination

Housesellerihope · 12/10/2013 06:57

Me Before You by JOJo Moyes. I don't usually like sappy heart string-pulling stuff but this was very good and different from the rest.

hackmum · 12/10/2013 15:04

I have just finished Ring of Bright Water by Gavin Maxwell. Incredibly well-written, but also evocative and funny and immensely sad too. Really loved it.

dontwanttobefatandforty · 12/10/2013 15:06

just finished Room, I couldnt put it down!

notnowbernard · 12/10/2013 15:13

To kill a mocking bird

mrswalker13 · 12/10/2013 19:55

Second vote for The Night Circus. Also loved The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye.

Leo35 · 12/10/2013 20:55

I've just finished Life, Death and Vanilla Slices by Jenny Eclair. A melancholy read, but great storytelling. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did (is that damning with faint praise?).

AvonCallingBarksdale · 13/10/2013 17:55

gazzlaw I was going to say Perfect, too. I loved that even more than Harold Fry - really stayed with me.

MrsDesperado · 13/10/2013 22:20

Apple Tree Yard - consumed every spare minute I had! Mourning the absence of it in my life now...

SparkleToffee · 13/10/2013 22:28

Behind the scenes at the museum - Kate Atkinson ...... Beautiful book
